Egremmni Beach set to reopen in October 2020

As the municipal council and the citizens of Lefkada had informed, in the meeting of Monday, November 25, 2019, the Mayor of Lefkada, Mr. Charalambos Kalos, announced that the road would be open during this year's tourist season and that the project would be deliverd without other unforeseen situations like any weather or time delays at the end of February 2020. But the coronary pandemic and the restrictive measures overturned the original predictions.
According to a document sent to the municipality by the head of the EYDE (Special Public Works Service) of the Peloponnese, the road is completely restored and paved. The rock protection is also completed. What still needs to be done is the access ladder to the beach from the point where the road ends, which would be done by drilling and anchoring on the rock. Stairs of wood are then laid on these anchors, while the handrail would be made with a rope due to the temperature.
As "Lefkada News" has been informed, the specialized external crew from Slovenia has already arrived in Lefkada and will place the prefabricated elements of the ladder to the shore. According to an earlier announcement by Lefkada MP Thanassis Kavvadas , after a meeting at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport with Minister Costas Karamanlis, that this part of the project would take 30-45 days to complete. In view of the above and if all goes well, the road is expected to be put into operation by the end of July at the latest by the second week of August.
